Closer to Earth Youth Gardens is a nonprofit youth group creating positive action in Oklahoma City and surrounding areas through organic gardening, native landscaping, composting and environmental advocacy.

CTE empowers at-risk urban youth by creating a secure community that provides the support needed for their healthy development. CTE provides a safe community and personal mentorship, creating an alternative to crime, gang activity, and violence. We prepare youth for the future by fostering leadership, respect, self-worth, public speaking, gardening and landscaping skills.

At Closer to Earth we emphasize youth leadership and empower youth to positively embrace their voice and ability to create change in the world. CTE is a dynamic and diverse group engaging youth in environmental and food justice advocacy. We facilitate a relationship between youth, businesses, schools and organizations for the greater good of our environment and food system. Our work on the ground takes place in outdoor spaces while gardening, native landscaping and composting, providing environmental education to our community.
